10 Underrated Honeymoon Destinations in Asia

Think holidays, think love, think Asia…

Not only is Asia the world’s largest continent, it’s the most romantic. Perhaps one of the greatest aspects of Asia is that many of its destinations are possible on a budget, and there are also those luxurious options if you’re ready to splurge. There is plenty to do, see, and experience. With so much to see and explore, it’s easy to see how so many of these incredible Asian destinations have gone unnoticed and unloved, so here are the 10 most underrated honeymoon hot spots.

 1. The Maldives

It may be the smallest country that Asia has to offer, but there is still plenty to do. It’s one of the most popular tourist destinations for the scuba diving crowd. You can choose a room in a luxury resort or opt for a floating bungalow to enjoy nature. If you’re on a budget, the Maldives probably isn’t the place for you – but if you’re looking to go big before you go home, then the Maldives is for you; it’s the perfect honeymoon spot.

 2. Thailand’s Phil Phi Islands

It’s more famous for the Leonardo DiCaprio movie, The Beach. There are options here, whether you choose to explore Palong Bay, Loh Sama Bay or Maya Bay. Thailand has a lot to offer, including Koh Samui – this exotic hotspot features incredible beer bars that have low-cost local beers on offer, scuba diving, and awesome nightclubs.

3. Sapa, Vietnam

This mountainous city is rich in culture. There are fields of orchids, local markets, and incredible scenery. There’s more – there are rivers, beaches, Buddhist sites, as well as UNESCO sites. You can take a bicycle tour or take a dip in the waterfall of Phu Quoc after a nice hike.

It’s located just off India’s southern coast and is a destination that ticks pretty much every box. It’s friendly, it’s affordable, it’s fascinating and unique. 7. Laos

It doesn’t get more colourful than this – plenty of history, culture, and art to experience. From Buddhist temples and shrines and beyond… A lot of the natural land is unspoiled and untouched, so it’s a beautiful place to discover. There’s kayaking and caving or… just plain relaxation.

 8. Cambodia

If you’re looking for an eco-friendly honeymoon, then Sihanoukville might be the place for you. Cambodia prides itself on sustainability, and many of the resorts and hotels have followed with that. The luxury resort of Sihanoukville is the perfect option for anyone who is looking to indulge in life’s finer things. The nightlife is also pretty wild. You can also make a trip to Koh Kong to visit elephants, it’s just a half an hour speedboat ride away.

 9. The Philippines

Cebu is a stunning place to visit and it’s generally less crowded. If you’re looking for serenity and crystal clear waters, then Cebu is the perfect destination. It’s absolutely beautiful, it’s charming, and there are romantic cruises available to allow you to explore the islands. It’s perfect if you love tropical weather and enjoy snorkelling, caving, and kayaking.

 10. Indonesia

Where else but Bali? What more could any couple want from their honeymoon? Indonesia’s Bali offers elephant safaris, wild jungles, relaxing beaches, and culture. The beaches are picturesque, so be sure to visit South Bali, Legian, and Sanur. These are more romantic as they are quieter, especially when compared to Kuta, which is where the party scene is. There are other areas of Indonesia you can explore on your honeymoon. Lombok Island is seriously romantic with beaches, waterfalls, and volcanoes.
