2018 heralds in a new year – new hopes, new beginnings, and a fresh start to travel. The sun, sea, and sand – don’t these three S’s convey a postcard-perfect picture in front of you? Well, if you’re thinking of holidaying in style, we bring to you some of the most attractive coastline destinations where you can get the best of water and land, or should we say sand? Pick the destination closest to your area of residence, pack your bags, and get ready to feed the travel bug some vitamin sea.
La Jolla, California

La Jolla boasts animal parks, a beautiful golf course, hiking trails close to nature, and delightful beaches. Check out the coastline hotels in La Jolla through Hotel Planner to find a room where you can enjoy the views of the beaches in this San Diego community. Tourists are bound to enjoy a break in this picturesque seaside locale with its canopy of pine trees and a lineup of numerous restaurants along the coast. The waterfront area of the rugged Pacific coastline comes to life during the wee hours of the day, as one can walk for hours while taking in the sweeping oceanic views.
Viareggio in Tuscany

The beautiful Italian seaside city of Viareggio lies by the Tyrrhenian Sea in the Province of Lucca of Tuscany and is famed for its Italian Carnival and civic museums. It houses some brilliant harbor walks like that of L’attesa and the beautiful beach alternate of Bagno Irene. Visitors can also take up cultural tours and hiking activities. Immerse yourself in the envelope of nature and lose yourself to a sea-kissed Tuscan affair.
Kota Kinabalu in Sabah

Think of Kota Kinabulu as a tropical Malaysian paradise surrounded by a rainforest. The pleasure of being so deep in the lap of nature is unrivaled. The gorgeous coastline stretch of KK, as it is fondly called, is situated in Borneo’s Sabah state. The beach resorts and other stays offer private bays and secluded enclosures with the best sunset bars one could think of. After a tiring day of trekking the summit of Mount Kinabalu, one could retire in the sandy shores, enjoying music, food, and dramatic sunsets.
Nha Trang in Khan Hoa

A trip to Vietnam is incomplete without heading down south to the lively resort city of Nha Trang. Not only does it offer offshore islands, but it also provides glimpses of prolific underwater life around untouched coral reefs, natural reserves like those of Hon Tam and Hon Mun islands, and cable-car rides to Hon Tre island.
Tynemouth in Tyne and Wear

Tynemouth is situated at the mouth of the River Tyne. This modern town in the metropolitan English county of Tyne and Wear is known for its ocean park, excavated Roman fort, and castle beside the seafront area. Besides these attractions, it’s also popular for its nightlife and shopping areas, including the popular Tynemouth Markets. The glimmering gilded sand of Long Sands Beach just cannot be missed.
These gorgeous destinations make for the perfect coastal vacations and can easily be covered in any budget. If you’re willing to go overboard, simply book a villa with a private bay. If you’re on a shoestring budget, think of chalets and inns as your options. Play in the sun and have fun!

Among all these beach destinations, Kota Kinabalu is something I hope to do this year. I find it amazing for the description I have read of its clear waters and marine life. Fingers crossed

Beautiful coastlines and I am lucky to have been to most of them. Two coastlines I would urge you to add to your list are – Indonesia and Philippines. They are just too gorgeous and unspoiled. i can spend months there.

This is incredible… Although I am not a big beach fan myself, I do enjoy some days at the seaside from time to time.. But, I more enjoy the beautiful views that the coast has to offer, at sunset. I am a big fan of good sunsets. I would particularly love to visit Kota Kinaburu, if the promise of a dramatic sunset is on the table 🙂 Safe travels!

We used to live two miles from La Jolla. I don’t think I would call the town “a canopy of pine trees” but there are some groves in the near by Torrey Pines State Park. We particularly enjoyed visiting the sea lions and seals that lived right next to La Jolla Cove .

Wow the view of Kota Kinabulu looks amazing. I have been to Maylaysia a couple of times and never thought it was home to such a beautiful beach. Further a field Viareggio in Tuscany, is definitely somewhere I would like to see. Thanks you for sharing these wonderful coastlines.

It’s nice to read about coastlines that I’ve yet to visit! I’d like to return to Vietnam and see more of the country and the coast. I’m in Italy, but yet to visit this coastline in Tuscany, so will remember for the future!

A really unexpected list! First I thought I would get a list with the usual coastline as the Big Sur, The great ocean road etc. But your list is different. The only one I ever have been to is Thra Nang in Vietnam and I almost went to the Jolla in San Diego for some snorkeling. I hope to be ticking off some from your list!
