Why We Love Travelling for Food (and You Should Too!): About Travel&Spice

Travel, spice and everything nice…Aditi_ cover picture_Perpetually hungry!

Reminder: You are at Lyf&Spice. This is a space for Travel and Food alike. We love eating as much as we love travelling. We bet you do too!

Night markets and food streets are our favourite places

Born to eat:

I was born to eat! Folks often tell me that I used to screech if I wouldn’t get round-2 of my dinner even if it was something little. I grew up to be a muncher, munching away when I was happy, sad, nervous, excited, anxious… basically all the time.

On a serious note, I majored in Food and Nutrition until I forgot all about nutrition and stuck to the word food. Also, my friends always complain that I get them in the habit of eating all the time too. <Yikes>

We share our food…Β not dessert though πŸ™‚

Munchlust evolving…

My munchlust grew stronger while travelling. It took me to places I wouldn’t have otherwise gone to. People travel for different reasons. I travel for food, besides culture and adventure. I have been trying new cuisines for as far as I can remember. Openness to a new form of local food opens doors to their culture and traditions.

Eating our way around the world…

I travel for food because it helps me:

  • Interact with locals
  • Understand the traditions and customs
  • Get acquainted with food habits across cultures
  • Be receptive to all kinds of food
  • Connect with people

I realized that there is no bad or eeky food – I grew to respect the eating habits of people and food across communities. Luckily, my travel buddy, Amit is open to all kinds of food too. We travel together, exploring the world, one bite at a time πŸ˜‰

In order to honour our passion for food across the world, we at Lyf&Spice have come up with a series called Travel&Spice. We thought of gathering travellers who have interesting food stories, conversations over a meal and new food discoveries to share.

If you are a passionate traveller and have interesting anecdotes or food encounters to share, send your story to us.

  3. Yaaaaas, literally this is me too! All my money goes to food. I would give up a pair of jeans for a good meal! In Bali, I ate maybe 4-5 times a day! Here in China I like going out to eat with the locals and trying new things. My favorite food is Korean,Malaysian, Thai, Vietnamese, and Chinese. I love Italian as well and Sushi. I realize this list can go on haha
